Default need advice re PA to replace Acoustic amp?-thanks!

Have used an AER compact 60 for my farmers market gig.It sits on a stand about 15 inches high.
The market has about 700 customers each Tuesday with about 20 vendors.
Me and a buddy who uses a cheaper Crate acoustic gig there every second week.
Yesterday on our day "off" there was a DJ providing the "music".
His fairly large conventional PA sounded so much better with superior projection than our set up.
Would it be worthwhile to look into a line array type of PA?
We prefer something fairly light and not bulky.
Are the JBL line arrays any good?
Any advice appreciated!
Thanks!

Gabe

Hi Gabe,

I wouldn't go down that rabbit hole. If you have enough volume for people that ACTUALLY WANT TO HEAR YOU can, then don't go for an upgrade. If you do, is your partner able to and willing to buy an upgrade too?

What you have is probably good enough. I'm a minimalist and don't worry about keeping up with the "jones's".

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Just my .02

I will enable. My Fishman SA330 is awesome. Light, easy to set up, and I have the mixer add on.

Great tone. Great EQ. Great reverb on each channel. Great customer service.

Endorse.

A lessor known company that excels at high end sound is LD Systems. They make a variety of sound systems. I love the quality of sound I get from my fairly inexpensive system from LD. Not affiliated in any way.

I second this, I gig with two LD MAUI 11s - my friend gigs with two RCF EVOX 8s also with excellent results.

Yep, LD Systems are great. I have both a Maui 5 and Maui 28. You'll get great 3D tone.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

Roy,your point is very well taken. We're not pro musicians by any stretch.
Next time,I'll take a critical audition of our sound.
Perhaps we can raise the level of our amps and also consider adding an extension to the AER set up.

Gabe
