Big shout out to the helpful forum member, a fantastic craftsman who restores Martin guitars better that Martin themselves!

It was more work than I envisioned; if I had to do it again, I would not have started on an empty belly!

We ripped the slab into two roughly equal planks then cut each plank into thirds about 15" long.

Ran these six through the planer, the joiner, and then sliced each up the middle to make a bookmatched set, minimum size 1.25" x 6" x 15"

Each set was planed to uniform thickness while removing the band saw marking.

The slab had a bit of a twist to it but by working with shorter lengths, we pretty much eliminated that issue.

We ended up with six sets with various widths; the mandolin maker will be able to pick his spot to make his final blank.

Big thanks to everyone who helped, especially Jon.
