Electrified a Deering 6 string Banjo with a K&K Pickup
Just electrified a Deering Boston 6 string with a K&K dual pickup. It works quite well. With a 6 string it is difficult to hear the base strings cause of the small pot volume, the pickup makes up for this. Still experimenting but looks pretty promising, may be more fun to play it electrified.

Used the electrified 6 string in Praise band and just saw the video. The balance it gives you is quite good the bass strings are really helped, totally worth it. Seems much more important with a 6 string

I used a JJB PPS-200 in my cheapo Davison 6-string. It works quite well. I replaced the low E and A on this with string half the original diameter and tuned an octave higher. Gives it a more banjo-ey sound with the re-entrant tuning. So I never worry about bass response. And it sounds more like a banjo.

Doubleneck, I put the same dual K&K pickup on my own Deering B6 guitar-banjo ten or twelve years ago now. It works well.
Unlike Bart, I like the sound of the lower strings on my Deering. I find it's especially cool-sounding on surf music and Henry Mancini tunes like "Peter Gunn" and "The Pink Panther!" whm |
