Quarter vine on one. Really beautiful.
Not to hijack OP's thread, but that Olson #1287 is actually the inspiration for my Heinonen build. Hands down my favorite fingerstyle guitar ever. (hopefully until I get my build...!)

Stevie--Jim's progress looks amazing and I hope it gets delivered sooner rather than later!

I think you may have surpassed your inspiration Tom - your guitar looks amazing. I have similar aesthetic tastes to yours - less blingy, focus on wood. Other than the pickguard (I chose not to have one), I love all the choices you made.

Wow that's really neat to see pics of a large shop production like that. That guitar is looking great, along with the others I can imagine.

Haha! I'm not sure Jim would agree that its a large shop production - Jim builds these guitars himself - no assistants (he hasn't had any help for the last few years). What you are looking at is the full year production in one picture - 28 guitars, all by one (amazing) guy. I think Dana Bourgeois would be more of a large shop production - he and his team produce 400 guitars a year out of a small shop in Lewiston Maine.

Large shop production out of a small shop is quite a trick!

Jim was doing 2 batches a year of around 25 each until he started wintering and golfing in AZ. Not sure how long ago that was, maybe 10 years? Now, he just does one a year. I used to live about 10 miles from him and visited occasionally. He ragged me for owning two Ryans but none of his. I finally gave in. He had several orphans in the batch that he was working on at the time- a cedar/EIR SJ, a koa/italian spruce SJ and I think a third one. Bodies and necks were done. The only input that I had were fretboard inlays and truss rod cover, but it was done in about a month. (I chose the koa.) He really is a great guy and I miss visiting with him. We exchange emails every once in a while. He is a great luthier but is an engineering/tool making genius I think. I was there one time and he had a guitar that he had made for Pierre Bensusan. Pierre turned it down. At the time that I was there, he was planning on giving it to his son but eventually sold it I think. It was very lowden-like in woods and satin finish. Boy, I loved that guitar.

Jim continues to make good progress, although he told me he was interrupted a few days ago by a visit from Boz Scaggs! He doesn't own an Olson yet - but maybe Jim will add him to next year's list!

Anyway, here is the class of 2017 with necks attached.

ExpoTom, it sure didn't take long for that Olson 1287 to sell. Already gone from Dream Guitars!
