I may check the book out. I have been studying with an instructor who is a great bluegrass player and we have been using Steve Kaufman material. His stuff is good for learning also. But I am going to have to get better with the rhythm.

There are going to be a set of fiddle tunes that everyone knows in your area. I have been in groups in both Maryland and California and everyone seems to know:
A) Whiskey Before Breakfast B) Cherokee Shuffle C) Old Joe Clark D) Blackberry Blossom E) Foggy Mountain Breakdown plus vocal songs. I would bet that in your group that there are two or three fiddle tunes that get played just about every session. Those are the ones you want to learn first. The Steve Kauffman parking lot books are great resources, but the problem is that there are 20 Tunes You Should Know with several books that come out to about 150 tunes, so what should you learn first? Find out what they play in your group, and learn those tunes first. Just my .02 CK |

It's been years and years since I jammed Bluegrass. I can't find anyone here interested. It was a great way to learn. Try Copperhead Road, only 2 chords..
