Default New American Prof Strat

Bought one of these today. It replace the standard line in case you haven't read. First one the store had sold. I had sold an American standard a while back and missed it. Played a Special Strat model as well as a couple of MIMs.

Changed the strings to D'addario, 10's. Nice playing ax with the all the mojo.
Finish is sunburst. If anyone wants to know what's new just google.

Congrats! You may be the first one here with a new Professional series. I'll be looking to try one out in the guitar store sometime. Is there anything specific with the new model that you prefer over the old?

Enjoy!

So far I like it better. Might be more mental due to the new guitar thrill.
The neck feels real good I have to say.

I love the look of the American Professional Jaguar.

But, I do have to wonder - how, on earth, does anyone keep track of the approximately 537 different Strats that Fender now confuses its customer base with? They are getting to be as bad as Gibson.

i love the look of the new green and gray ones. can't afford it so i can only look.

i would think that they replaced the american standard instead of the standard. the american professionals list about $1500 while the am. standards were $1200 but the standards were only $800.

play music!

Congrats to the OP for his new acquisition, but I keep wondering why Fender felt a need to discontinue the American Standards and replace it with the Professionals...

Most intriguing and interesting to me is the introduction of this "Deep C" neck carve. I've never been able to get along with the Modern C. It's just too thin for my linking. My favorite Fender neck carve is the SRV, but I also enjoy the neck on my 52 AVRI Hot Rod Tele and 62 AVRI Hot Rod Strat. Anywhere around .85-.90 at the first fret and .95-1.0 at the 12th and I'm happy.

OP< I couldn't find any clear statement that the Pros were replacing the Am Standards. Do you have a link to Fender's release of that info? Or this something you read on a forum?

They did a similar thing about 10-15 years; they dropped the American Standard name and launched the American Series. But essentially they occupy the same place in the Fender line as the preceding lineup, i.e. the flagship, modern (non-reissue) U.S. guitar. Much like the American Elite has replaced the American Deluxe. Enough changes to merit a name change (and $ increase) I guess.
