Default Wrote a new song today...

I don't generally call myself a songwriter in the lyrical sense but this one wanted to come out this morning... so here it is.

Texas Man © 2017 Toby Walker - Loose Truth Music.

Right along the Pecos River, where it kisses the Rio Grande.
A woman standing in a doorway, waiting for her Texas man.
It’s been way too long since he left last night.
It’s the fourth bank he hit and she hopes that he’s alright.

That’s her Texas man.
That's her Texas man.

He’s on a first-name basis, with the bottom of the deck.
His granddaddy died, with a noose around his neck.
He’s got more guts than you could hang on a fence.
He got a loaded thirty-eight, but he got no sense.

That’s her Texas man.
That's her Texas man.

HIs woman has a dream, but she has no plan.
Her rusted canteen is filled with nothing but sand.

But she loves her Texas Man.

Standing in her doorway, was the shadow of another man.
It was the local deputy sheriff, with a photograph in his hand
Her eyes teared up, and her face turned red.
It was a picture of someone with a bullet hole through their head.

It was her Texas man.

A grim outcome, but a great tune... I liked it! Tasty solo in the middle too.

Really cool Toby. Great tune. I really like it.

So let me get this straight. You get up this morning, nothing on your mind as far as creating this song. All of a sudden this song,in its' complete form, is in your noggin just waiting to be committed to paper. Then boom, throw this song together and make a video?

Well, not that straight ahead. I had the germ of it in my head... something about Texas.. the grit, the hardness of the land, some kind of outlas, stuff like that. I also had that lick you hear in the beginning in my head. The rest of it kind of fell into place and after about an hour I made that video.
