Jon-
I just discovered your post and greatly looking forward to looking at your transcriptions !

Michael is from here in our area....still lives here as far as I know.
Back when his early work came out...
- ' First Light ' and ' Legacy ' I went to hear him in concert at a local college.

His music spoke to me and was so different at the time.....early 80s...
It was a time when many groups were not 'accepting' 'that type'
of music. Michael had a beard and ....well, you get the idea.....
You would have to understand the times and customs to fully appreciate
what a pioneer he really was...
acoustic guitar ...and He was such a student of the Word and put that into his songs...what a combination.

I was a beginner acoustic guitar player and enjoyed hearing him play acoustic guitar and sing. He was much too good for me to copy but I did play my guitar and sing a couple of his songs - using my basic knowledge -
greatly simplified chords and simple folk P-I-M-A arpeggio.
Now I'm looking forward to seeing how its REALLY done !

It has been some years since I thought about his songs.
Thanks for sparking my interest again.
I have his ' First Light ' and ' Legacy ' ALBUMS and a songbook for ' Legacy '
that I bought back 'in the day'.

His early works are my favorites - I did not keep up with him much after that
but I may need to explore some more now

My favorites are

Now That I've Held Him in My Arms
Love Crucified Arose -
God Will Provide A Lamb -
This Must Be The Lamb -
Light of the World -
Jesus Loves Me (this I know)
The Voice of the Child

Later on he added an ochastra but I prefer his simple guitar and vocal.
For example - ' Light of the World ' -
I hope you feel led to transcribe that one !

I'm learning more about music these days so maybe I can learn to
play those wonderful songs of Michael more like he plays them !

May your efforts be blessed

- Larry

Thanks, Larry, for your encouragement.
It's great to see that Michael has influenced new generations
and is still active.
Thanks for the offer to help if need be !
I look forward to exploring your transcriptions....
and to new ones for some 'old favorites'.

I subscribed.

Can't believe this is the first time I've seen this thread! I grew up with Michael Card's tapes playing all the time. He's a masterful musician and writer. Thanks for your work, Jon. I will be checking this thread out for a while to catch up.

Bel isi,
