Such is the nature of forums, no? I just ignore the threads that I find redundant or otherwise don't interest me.

Not really that strange given that:
  1. New members join every week
  2. Not everyone will have seen previous threads
  3. Not everyone is going to search out old threads and, anyway;
  4. Although some opinions stay the same, some might change

(I fit in to #2 and sometimes #3 because of #4 )

One of the reasons why I posted a question about good room humidifiers; even though it may have been covered last winter it doesn't necessarily reflect newer models and longer review periods.

The strangeness I find is not just that a new thread gets started; it's that so many people want to repeat their unchanged personal opinions (I didn't see one post by someone saying their thinking had changed) about a cosmetic issue. The OP was not asking a question about what he or she ought to do, or asking for any help or explanation. The same thing happens about every two months when someone asks, "Do you like bearclaw?" It's not a question about something that might have a new model.

And it usually is not a new member. The OP on this thread has been a member since 2010.

I guess we interpret things differently:

No! Wood is beautiful because of its organic variations. If you want boring perfection and consistency, paint in black!

Yes. I thought this was the question:

The dreaded RUN OUT syndrome ....Honestly?... It can make a real nice guitar...look real ugly fast. So many say it doesn't matter if the guitar plays and sounds well. Those are usually the people whose guitar collection has little or no run out in it. I'm never happy if a guitar any run out. I don't care how well it plays or if it cost $15,000. If it has run out. I'm not buying.

Here is a pictorial thread showing run out. It may shed some light to some "opinions".

i might guess that with every new thread about runout, more people find it less acceptable. whereas the reverse might be true of bearclaw, which i think gets more acceptable the more you see it.

It's funny because I'm neutral about runout but bearclaw is a little ugly to me.

I don't mind if it's subtle, but I'd rather have a nice matching top. I notice that almost every J-15 pictured on Sweetwater's site has a top with runout. Click on "compare all 4":

This optical effect does not (necessarily) indicate runout.
