Default "thing" inside my Martin 000-16GT (2009ish)

I dropped an allen wrench inside my 000-16 this morning and while looking up inside of it upside down, I saw something that I don't know what it is. I was hoping one of you could help identify it. This is upside down, looking towards what would be the top bout (towards the low E). This guitar has never been electrified or anything. It feels like metal and it moves a little bit.

You might need to get a better picture.

If you have a small mirror to put behind it, that might show us what that actually is.

It seems to be a thin metal clip like thing, like an old school split page hole fastener type of metal, attached with some foam. I’ll try to get a better picture

based upon the first picture and your description it looks identical to the clips that come with an LR Baggs pickup system to hold the wires to either the top or side of guitar

Hmmm….. I’m the second owner, so maybe they did. There aren’t any holes cut for a preamp or a jack, though.

depending on the size of the end pin, it would not have to be recut to put certain baggs style acoustic systems in...like an LR Baggs iBeam system in which the preamp is in the ibeam jack part. the clip position on yours would be to hold the wire running from the volume control that would attach to the inside of soundhole, and then the battery would of been mounted to the neck block inside guitar using velcro or such

Thumbs up

That’s likely what it is, then. I’ll stop fretting about it. I was worried it was a pice of bracing or something, then I stuck my hand up further and felt the foam. Thanks, all!

Maybe it's another Allen wrench?
