Arrow Woo! Played my first gig!

So, I did it!

Managed to mostly hold it together, although I have never been that scared in my life. 35 minutes goes quite quickly on stage though, doesn't it?

Apart from the cockups, you will also notice how badly my right hand is shaking as I do the final bassline walk-up.

Haha.

Thanks for all the help and advice guys!

They've even booked me for 2 more gigs now!

Thanks again,

Tom

Good work, Tom! It is true; playing in front of people is quite the rush, isn't it? I've been performing for over 40 years and I still get nervous, every time beforehand...

Funny, it's been a year or so since I've "played out", and now I have a couple gigs coming up... I find SO MANY different thoughts running through my mind... after not having played for people much of late, it's amazing how much I question myself - my ability, the songs I play and love, what people will think, whether I'll play well, whether anyone will like what I do... all that negative stuff that has nothing to do with playing music at all... and these thoughts? They don't even come into play if I'm gigging on any sort of a regular basis! Amazing what the mind can conjure up...

Any way, good on you for your first gig! May you have many more...

That's tremendous. Wish I sounded like that now, let alone at my first gig.

Big thumbs up from me!

Congrats! You must have done something right; they're having you back! I like your attitude; screw-ups are always going to happen. People often tend to just worry too much about them before AND after. Forget 'em. I've read here that every gig is just a rehearsal for the next one, and I believe that. I play a lot and I haven't come even close to perfection yet. You're rollin' now -- let your confidence build; put a gag on any negative thoughts and keep going!

The cellist Yoyo Ma says he looks forward to his first mistake. Then he can relax and just enjoy playing after that.

I personally liked the performances and hope to see more. In the first vid, you have a very soulful presentation and great vocal and guitar dynamics. You sound like early Elvis Costello.

Well done!

Really nice job there Tom.

You know, you mentioned "aside from the cockups", but to tell you the truth, I got into listening to you and forgot to look for mistakes, so I really didn't notice.

If you were playing nearby me I would go to hear you.

Love your voice. (If I had 3 wishes, one would be that I could sing.)

again, thank you guys.

That's awfully kind of you.

It's funny, at one point I did relax and start to enjoy it, then I realized how relaxed I was and panicked haha!
