Default Bonamassa's acoustic band

Does anyone know the instrument one member of band used that was lap type, had keys, and a bow about ten inches long?

It is a Nyckelharpa. Mats Wester plays it in Joe's acoustic band. This is the band lineup:

Joe Bonamassa (vocals, guitar); Arlan Shierbaum (accordion, pump organ, celeste); Gerry O'Connor (Mandolin, fiddle, Irish Banjo); Mats Wester (Nyckelharpa); Leonard Castro (percussion)

Here is an example of the instrument.

Hope that helps.

Default Khedquist!

Thank you. I searched for a half hour on the net before I gave up.

It has a very large sound. I've never heard of one before.

Did you try Googling the title of your thread? That is all I did. Found it one click later on this link.

Next search was on Youtube using the name of the instrument. Sometimes the simplest searches are the best.

Cheers, Kevin

If I knew the name of the instrument, I wouldn't have asked what it was called here.

Do you have trouble reading??

I am guessing this is this directed at me? So, in response. Let me ask you if you have trouble reading. I will go slowly so you can follow along. Firstly you asked a question. I simply gave you the answer your requested and told you how I was able to find it. I didn't know the name at first either until I did my own search to help you.

I said that I used the title of your thread in my Google search. That gave me the name of the instrument and the person in Joe's band that plays it. I gave you that link. Then I said that next, I used the name of the instrument found in that link to search YouTube. I did that so I could see what it looked and sounded like because I wasn't familiar with it. I learn something new all the time at AGF and I thank you for that.

Perhaps you misunderstood my "simplest search" comment as demeaning. I apologize for that. My intention was to say that sometimes using fewer words gets the better results on Google. At least that has been my experience.

I will certainly avoid your screen name in the future if you need help. Sorry if you thought I was implying you are stupid. Oh my bad, that's you implied I was by asking if I have trouble reading.

yeah, it seemed demeaning and snarky.

By all means avoid my posts.

We need all the band width we can get. Less said the better.
