Default Failure Analysis

eBay is a great place to view some broken guitars, and I find it interesting to think about how they failed.

1967 Martin:

What do you think? Trauma? What sort of force would break the neck block loose from the top?

It fell backward and hit a hard wall in the way down. If the head is not damaged then the neck hit solid first. Thats my guess

Wow, back in 1988 or so, I left a Guild D66 in my car in the case on a hot day. Came back and the glue had failed, but not to this extent! All I had was really, really high action. I forget the fix, but at the time it was around a hundred if I remember correctly.

Gardman's right, I'd bet it was left in a hot car.
