Sources for Inlay materials help please
I'd ask in DIY but I swear only 5 of us seem to hang out there lol
So far my inlays have been good old shell. My new project is to be lively and colorful. So, I would probably like to use reconstituted stone and Corian mostly. Can anyone help me out with who to deal with for these materials? |

Hey John... I'm no help on inlay material, but I do catch new postings by using "New Posts" as my primary "check out AGF" look. I don't know the parameters, and have missed some threads when off for too long, but using New Posts looks across all the sections.
I have to admit, though, I posted those pics of my Paragon baritone on the main section instead of the Custom section and it got quite a few more hits than the build thread did... Looking forward to seeing more of your work!! Phil |

They seem to deal mostly in shell, but check out DePaule Supply.

Rescue Pearl is great. Service is top notch. Product is better than some others listed. Prices are very competitive.

Try a woodturning supply such as Craft Supplies or Packard Woodworks for alternative materials such as crushed stone.
Rio Grande for precious metals and stones.

Rescue Pearl and MaseCraft both carry recon stone as well as Abalam and solid shell. Masecraft also carries some nice materials such as Corian, polyester, acrylic and Atlante. My favorite source for Corian however is a local cabinet shop who deals with a lot of Corian installations. I go out there every once in a while to show him the latest inlay I've done using Corian and then finagle a "sample kit" out of him. You'll need to resaw the Corian however since it's in 1/2" thick pieces.

Thanks for all of the great replies! Looks like I will be doing some surfing tonight. Darn, my cabinet maker was here this morning!

For corian or stone, try your local Home Depot or Lowes store. They often sell small "sample" pieces. Also check with cabinet shops or stone counter top makers. They may have some pieces like sink cutouts, or broken pieces that can be cut down. Another source is lapidary or jewlery supply stores.

An official Corian dealer outlet will have 2" x 2" color samples that they give away. The countertop saleslady musta liked me 'cause I now have at least 6 or 7 different materials/colors to play with for FREE!
