It might be a Highlander. George used those for a while. I had one on an O32 from 2006.

From an old thread I found....

A reply from Johnny Lowden:

The pickup is one of the old EMG systems we used to fit. I’m not sure of the exact specifications of it but as far as I’m aware it’s a simply ‘plug and play’ type pickup.

(Mine has the same white battery housing).

BK - the guys are asking for photos! Can you get an 'inside' shot of the bracing and top in the area aft of the soundhole?

Incidentally, if you're a Face-Booker, the Group 'Lowden Owners Group' is a great resource for help and advice - it's watched by the guys at GLG in Downpatrick, and Johnny Lowden and Alastair Simpson often reply to comments on threads and pass on advice. There are many long-time Lowden Owners on there too, and they are always very helpful. I can highly recommend it (although the photos people post of their new guitars are seriously GAS-inducing - beware!).

Here's a photo of typical Lowden bracing:

Note the extra thick area around the soundhole and that the bridge plate is well back inside the body...

That's an interesting pic, Phil. My O25's bridgeplate seems to be even bigger than that. Also, there's no hole in the first brace for a truss-rod wrench - I have to use a short wrench, reach up round the back of the brace, and locate the adjuster 'blind'.

I think the presence of the reinforcement piece around the soundhole is what gives people the idea that Lowdens are built with thicker-than-usual soundboards.

....and the standard stick on pickup soundhole volume controls don't fit!

Errr...I have taken approximately 2000 photos of the inside of the Lowden LSE1 with my iPhone and not one shows the place we want! Sorry, I will try later.

Meanwhile here is a couple photos of the 1993 Lowden LSE1 to look at - played it last year about this time and...had to have it.... unusual sound and feel for a Lowden, 1 11/16" nut (which I had a wider space one made since), mahogany back and sides with sitka top - a great country blues Lowden!

I'm still waiting for my guitar tech to call me back - he is a victim of his own greatness! Very busy. Forgotten me!

Meanwhile in the comedy area, here is the best photo I could get of the inside of my bridge area. with a little bit of imagination, in the reflection of my inspection mirror (while shooting pics with iPhone in other hand) you can see that there is a bridge plate after all - it takes up the whole section between braces and could possibly be rosewood? Well, I can see it in the mirror but couldn't quite get a shot!

As I suspected!

It's not so 'obvious' as, say, a Martin plate because, rather than being a comparatively narrow strip, it covers most of that area between those braces. I suspect (though I have no actual evidence, just my assumption) that the bridge-plate is so large in order to stiffen the top around the bridge area to help prevent the pinless bridge popping off - in the early days there were a number of instances of this happening, I believe.

Glad you got there eventually - K&K time now?

Still waiting to hear back from my tech.....I will see if he can find/fix the existing pickup first. Pickup is probably crinkled up under the B string, might need a new set of saddles? Don’t know any of that, but there will be 2 or 3 K&Ks coming so I can try other guitars in my Tonedexter! The LSE1 sounds great in the TD, except for the B.
