Signal Path Questions

The mono signal output path is mixer -->processor-->powered speakers.

Is it better to use both L&R and run one side to each powered speaker, or use just one side into one powered speaker and then use the "through" connection from speaker 1 to speaker 2?

BTW, I want to acknowledge that I've been asking a lot of questions here lately, and don't have answers to others' questions. That's because I don't know much! I truly appreciate being able to come here and get useful information. Thank you, kind folks!
