Default Loudbox mini problem

Hi All

My Loudbox mini has suddenly dropped in volume on the guitar input.
Mic and aux input volume are both o.k.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance.
Anand.

Any chance the guitar output has changed (low battery?) or perhaps a cable problem?

The guitar sounds fine on my carvin AGD100.
About the cable, I think the trouble may have started when I used a defective cable that was shorting.
Now it wont work with any cable.
Thanks for the input.

For what it's worth, I've owned 2 loudbox minis and a Fishman undersaddle piezo pickup... ALL THREE PRODUCTS WERE DEFECTIVE!!! That is a 100% fail rate for Fishman in my experience. Now I know that Fishman is clearly a good company with great sounding products (I loved the tone from all of my 3 Fishman poducts on the rare occasion that they worked), or they wouldn't have been so successful for so long. So maybe I just had bad luck, but I've never had a problem with L.R. Baggs. Y.M.M.V.

Is there a remote chance where you were using the amp is a dry room, possibly carpeted?
A good number of years ago I was setting up to use a bass amp and already had the cord plugged into the amp head. When I picked up the end of the cord to plug into the bass I heard and felt a slight static electricity snap. The amp did not work after this occurred. I evidently had discharged the static electricity into the amplifier which did the damage. Fortunately I'm an electronics tech and was able to replace an OP Amp in the frontend of the unit that had been fried.
Since then I'm quite careful to touch something that's grounded before I touch a cable. Also misting a carpet with a weak solution of fabric softener from a spray bottle can reduce static.

One thought is to work each knob full CW and CCW on the guitar controls. Possibly one could be 'dirty' and not passing signal the way it should.

Fishman is pretty good about responding to inquiries.

Thanks for the replies.
I've had the amp for about five years now with no problems.
On my Taylor GS mini I have a LR Baggs M1 active.
On the Martin 00-1R I have a Fishman Ellipse Blend mic/piezo.
The floor is Hardwood.
The only variable was the defective cable.
Will try the knob.
Plan to call Fishman tomorrow.
I understand these are difficult to work on.
Thanks again for the input.

No harm in spraying a little contact cleaner into the errant input jack and then insert and remove a cable a few times. That fixed a similar problem on an effects pedal for me recently.

DeOxit is the best known brand. And for cleaning pots I would definitely use DeOxit Fader spray, not (generic) contact cleaner. But if you're in a hurry, you can get contact cleaner at any big box Home Depot type store in the electrical section. The can will be huge and cheap compared to DeOxit, but it will do the job.

It also may be worth a try wiping down the plugs on the cables with some of the contact cleaner Jon suggested. Just spritz a bit on a clean paper towel and wipe the surface of the plug.
DeOxit is the best stuff you can get and a small amount goes a long ways.

ordered this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

before I read your post.

I also contacted Fishman and got their RA form to ship out the head if the contact cleaner doesn't do the trick.
They were pretty prompt in their response.
They seem to think it's a problem with the instrument channel itself.
Will keep you posted.
I really like the mini and would like to get it fixed.
Thanks again.

No luck with the contact cleaner.
Plan to ship out the amp head as soon as I get the RA number from Fishman.
I can see that putting the head back is not going to be as easy as taking it out :-) !

Just got the amp head back.
works great now.great amp.
Fishman replaced the EQ pots on the instrument channel.
Their charge was $50/- and the shipping was $22/- going and about $16/- coming.
Great service!
The head is not too difficult to replace.
However, contrary to what the person ( I think it was somebody handling billing, not a tech ) at Fishman said, you need to insert the front first :-) !
