Beautifully done, Mark. So glad to hear that she sings.

Default End Graft

With the body closed up I can start putting on the Cocobolo end graft and binding as well as the accompanying purfling lines. It starts with the end graft;

More on the way!
Mark

Do you use a yellow wood glue for that? Delicious looking colors on this guitar, her name should be Coco.

Yes, I usually use Titebond for trim. Coco may be appropriate. I've recently gotten a large resupply of Cocobolo binding with the black wood and maple purfling lines custom made. I gives me a good assortment to choose from. I've selected out some nicely figured and book matched binding pieces for the top and back. Cocobolo is funny because you have to choose pieces with an eye for the color they will change to with a little time and finish.

Default Binding

I cleaned up the end graft and started binding today. The Cocobolo will bring out the red in the mahogany and contrast well on the edges to show the guitar's lines;

Tomorrow I should have the top bound and can start cleaning up.

Hmm, I agree that does look like a Venus flytrap. The guitar is bait.

Default Bound Body

I have the guitar body bound and did a first rough clean up today;

The book matched binding worked out very well:

The top purfling is the same black-maple-black-mahogany-black-maple-black as the outside border of the rosette:

So far so good!

Thanks, glad you like it! I knew from experience Cocobolo is a good color choice. It was fun trying to line up the binding grain and also find a good color match for the end graft.

Thanks! I'll be working the neck next week. It's going to be a very clean looking design when it's all finished up. We're talking about using the Thuya burl on the back of the headstock like on your guitar Tom.

Thanks again!
Mark
