A solid-body acoustic seems like the ideal candidate for imaging as its design is intended to be rather neutral in resonance and to provide a solid, feedback resistant, and easily manipulated signal. Since the idea, as Chet envisioned it, was the less "acoustic" it is, the more you could manipulate the EQ to sound like an acoustic.

As the guitar's inherent tone is up for grabs, an imaging tool like the Aura or Mama Bear should be its natural companion. I always thought that using an imaging unit with a solid-body acoustic would be the best way to record direct. Definitely worth a try.

If it makes any difference, the Godin Multiac models have Aura imaging built into them and it sounds very cool and natural.

I bought and returned one of the new steel string ones with the latest Yamaha DSP. It did not sound very good to me and given the extra bulk it made the Traveler Escape MKIII seem like a better solution for me.
