Default Barn Door 'Buzz' on Rainsong

Hoping someone else may have had this problem - and a solution. I am getting an intermittent buzzing sound on my Rainsong - the guitar suddenly sounds like a fuzzbox, especially on the open G and D strings. It seems to be coming from the barn door of the electronics. It will stop for a while when I open and reclose the 'door' but comes back again, sometimes not til days later. Any ideas?

Rainsong sent me a pad to install on the preamp to fix this. It helped a lot. Didn't completely eliminate it. I found another guitar in a store with this problem so don't feel alone.

I cut slivers of foam from(new) ear plug and closed the trap door around them.
It helps, but on occasion it has to be re-adjusted.

Same here with my Shorty. I put a bit of foam to shim it. It doesn't buzz through the electronics (i.e. Don't hear it through the amp/PA), but I sure hear it from my vantage point. When it first happened, I slightly opened the barn door to make the annoyance stop.

Hi Penny,

If you purchased the guitar from us than give me a call, or shoot me an email and I will look in to it for you. Otherwise I would suggest giving Dave at Rainsong a call about this.

It was a while ago, but I recall taking black electrical tape and putting it on the bezel in thin strips (to not be too obvious if you looked) along where the preamp housing could or did touch. That fixed it completely for me.

Thanks everyone. I bought the guitar used from a forum member. Glad to know it's not just me! I'll contact Rainsong and try the foam ideas in the meantime.

Amazing customer service, Rainsong! Dave is sending me a foam bumper for the barn door. Thanks for the help, one and all!
