I never was much innarested by his music although a lot of people that were a bit older than me liked him.

His daughter used to drink at Fullerton's which was a bar in my home town back in the 90s I guess it was but she never made much out of it. Grant Fullerton is playing at the Stouffville Legion some time soon in December if anyone wants to drop by.

Odd seeing the CBC newsguy being interviewed about any of this - CBC is the state run propaganda machine be the last people I'd give any credence to.

He's been a favorite of mine since the mid 60's and still is. We saw him in Sandusky, Ohio last June. He was looking a little gaunt compared to a few years ago. His vocals are no as strong anymore. But his sound is still unmistakably his own and he has such good rapport with the audience. His band has been together along time and they are as good as ever.

His Don Quixote album -- in 8-track, no less -- was a major soundtrack of a trip I took in 1972 to help my buddy Pete finish building his brother's house up in Massachusetts. It's indelibly imprinted on my mind...and largely for songs that didn't get big radio play back then: Patriot's Dream spoke directly to the clime of the time for me...and Christian Island and Brave Mountaineers can still give me nostalgic goose bumps today.

Considering how near we came to losing Lightfoot to his health woes a number of years back, I'm truly happy to see him still plugging along. I see that he's slated to come to San Antonio in February. Might have to buy some tickets...

Saw him a month or so ago, and completely agree with this....can't quite hit the high notes anymore, but still a legend....

Thank you for posting this. To say Gordon was a influence to my playing would be a vast understatement to all the great memories incurred.

It's fantastic that he's still out playing, especially considering his illness he had a few years ago.

Default I remember.

Thanx. I very much enjoyed the video. This video came up while watching. It has renewed my hunger for playing. It reminds me why I first picked up the guitar. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdwMoKJ6C4g

"Don Quixote", "Christian Island", and "Second Cup Of Coffee" are my fav G.L. songs. All from the same album. Also like "Ten Degrees And Getting Colder". Tony Rice does a wonderful version of the latter.

I got turned onto him after listening to endless hours of Ian & Sylvia. Thanks for the heads up, I missed the show on Sunday. Big Steel Rail is probably my favorite "I went in town for one last round and I gambled my ticket away".

I saw the piece on CBS Sunday Morning. I had no idea that he was so revered in Canada. Well deserved..."The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" has "haunted" me for most of my life...
