WOW! Looks like Tom is putting together a fabulous guitar for you.
I think he's doing a wonderful job taking you through the process with his great photography too.

Congratulations,
Mark

Default Build threads

Thanks, Mark,

Tom's photos have been a real education in what goes into building a fine, handmade instrument. I've been following your current !build threads with great interest as well!

Default Finish, first phase

The first coats of finish are on, and the Solace is looking as gorgeous as I had hoped. The cocobolo back and mahogany neck, with ebony back plate:

And the cedar top with the cocobolo rosette.

More to come!

Looking good! It's getting close now. I was playing my Doerr the other day watching the snow fall. You're in for a treat with yours!

Kindly,
Danny

That looks truly amazing. I have always admired Doerr's meticulous wood working and classy aesthetic. And that is one incredible set of cocobolo!

Default Solace under finish

While waiting for the finish to cure completely before final assembly and setup, Tom took some more photos of the Solace neck and body. The bright lighting really makes the cocobolo pop!

A view of the side and top, with the back of the neck and ebony backplate.

Detail of the side and the ebony shoulder bevel.

A close-up of the ebony end graft.

The cedar top and its cocobolo rosette.

And, just for variety, Tom took a photo of the Solace from the back, together with a front view of the coco/redwood Legacy he's building for Fred, which just got its top glued on. This shows the difference both in size and shape between the models.

They both look fantastic.

Awesome pics, Charlie! Nice that Tom did a side by side of yours and mine. I'm still at the "ugly stage".....!
Best,
Fred
