Default Why does Firefox keep loading same page?

Does anyone know why when I use Firefox to visit this forum, it will keep loading the same page over and over again. It becomes very annoying when you hit the back button and find that the same page is there again and again. Anyone else have this happen?

Sorry, it works fine for me. That's v 54.0 64 bit Mac.

It also works well in our enterprise where Chrome is a relative resource pig by comparison. I've been uninstalling Chrome and updating Firefox on less powerful and older computers where the results have changed users from sad (mad) to happy.

It happens to me with Windows 10.

Many browsers have settings for determining how often to refresh a page. I don't have Firefox on the machine I'm using right now, so cannot check.

Browsers may use pages that are already on your own machine to ensure quick loading, regardless of how the internet is doing at that moment. Fine when a page is static - not so good when content keeps changing.

If it is out on the search results or subforum pages, at the bottom you'll see an advertisement. That ad contains code that refreshes itself. Welcome to the new world of forums - lots of them are adding these self-refreshing ads that take up bandwidth.

Yes and it just started happening within the last couple of weeks.

It's a misbehaving ad. See here: http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=471563 We submitted a request to have it removed but that hasn't happened yet.

It has been happening to me these past couple weeks... some sort of garbage in the system.

Isn't there a way to "vet" ads before they are included in the website?

If its a ad then should it not happen on both Firefox and Chrome?

I have no clue what ad people are talking about. And I'm using Firefox on Windows 10.

Different browsers don't behave the same.
They have different filters and rules and what-not. During a previous job I worked on some websites and had them on my own computer before uploading everything to the web server. Chrome refused to display the pages that were on my machine, and gave me security warnings every time I tried. The other 3 or 4 browsers that I always tried displayed them OK. Chrome too was happy to display the pages as soon as they were "live".

Google's ad network is huge. We can select how and where ads will appear but there's no way to preview the individual ads before they show up. All we can do is report the misbehaving ones.

I'm convinced that Firefox hates the internet.

I'm a Chrome man.
