Default A question re tuner replacement

I'm considering swapping the tuners on my Taylor GS Mini Koa for a set of Gotoh 510s. The actual process looks straightforward, including drilling pilots for the screws, I've no problem with any of it. However, imagine a line drawn through the guitar lengthwise, should a line through the centre of the tuner shaft and button intersect this at 90 degrees? Or is the final rotational siting of the tuner a matter of aesthetics and personal taste? Some instruments seem to have tuners at a slight angle.

Most guitar heads have a tapered width when looking at the front of the head. That is, the sides of the head are not parallel. One approach is to have the shafts of the tuning pegs perpendicular to the non-parallel sides of the head. That way, the tuning buttons are parallel to the sides of the head and project uniformly.

Another way is to have the bodies of the tuners perpendicular to the centerline of the head. When looking at the back of the head, the bodies are all perpendicular to the centerline but the shafts of the tuners are not parallel to the sides of the head, resulting in the buttons being angled relative to the sides of the head.

Your choice.

Forgive the question, but why not just keep the original tuner alignment as it is now? In other words, don't fix what ain't broken.......

Purely for aesthetics.
