Did ebay lower it's fees for selling guitars?
I thought I heard that some where. However my online fee calculator seems to be the same. Hoping it just hasn't updated yet.

Yes, 3.5% now.

It was an offer that you had to activate. Doing so resulted in a 3.5% selling fee. Expired in April, AFAIK.

Its still 3.5% fees if your listing is under the category guitars and basses. I just went to the ebay fee calculator and tried it. There is no signing up and is supposed to be here to stay now.

That's not a bad deal. I've been fortunate on Ebay to almost always get more than I thought I would. Of course, I don't try to wrangle out every penny on a deal.
I've used Reverb too, but I like auctions a little better in case you have something more popular than you think. I haven't used Ebay in awhile since fees just seemed to pile up and end up a lot more than I expected. But I might try it when I get around to listing a banjo and classical guitar I've been planning to sell. Thanks for the tip. |

They dropped the rate because out-of-luck guitarists are keeping them in business via their sheer volume.
