Huge dead fan, I thought it was a very good documentary. I wish it had spent more time on the music. For instance, when Al Franken said that Nassau 1980 had the best Althea solo, it would have been nice to hear more than five seconds of it.

I have a lot of things on my bucket list, sitting right at the top of the list is to visit Deep Ellum and find one of those women with the Deep Ellum blues.

Finally caught up with it ... it was four hours, but could have been eight, easily. Lot of stuff they just simply couldn't get to.
A little Jerry heavy, but I'm a Bob guy. Really enjoyed "The Other One" a few years back. Oh, and I get what they were trying to do, but man, the Frankenstein thing really didn't connect with me. |

Owsley and the sound system! I knew about his acid, but missed his creativity on sound!

Cool, thanks for the heads up! Never was much of a Dead fan, but have grown to appreciate them more. Probably migrated over from the Pizza Tapes...
Will give it a watch. |

I understand rights issues, running time restrictions, and that not all music/musician documentary watchers are that interested in music, but it still drives me crazy. As bad as things like streaming music services and YouTube may be about musicians getting paid decently, at least now-a-days there's often a chance to hear the music alluded to when that happens through other means.
