Lightbulb 2015 Taylor 612CE 12-Fret First Edition - SOLD

I’ve got the urge add an Archtop to my collection and I've got too many guitars so something has to go. For sale is my 2015 Taylor 612CE 12 fret First Edition.

I am the original owner and it is in excellent condition.

I’m asking $2300 shipped to CONUS.

Torrified Sitka Spruce Top
Maple Back and sides
Scale Length 24-7/8"
Nut Width 1-3/4”
String spacing at Saddle 2-3/16”
Advanced Performance Bracing with Relief Rout
Number of Frets 18
Tuners Taylor Slot Head
Case Taylor First Edition Hardshell Brown
Body Length 19 1/2"
Body Width 15"
Body Depth 4 3/8"

From the Taylor Web Site

612ce 12-Fret First Edition
Our 12-fret Grand Concerts shift the neck’s position to the body, which drives the top in a way that adds extra midrange punch. Together with the revoiced design details of the 600 Series, players are in for a treat. The smaller body and short-scale neck make for an intimate and comfortable playing experience, while the tonal refinements to the bracing and other materials serve up an inspiring mix of warmth, richness and volume, especially for a small-body guitar. Every material component has been optimized, from the wood and finish thicknesses to the internal bracing — customized for each body shape — to the special roasting process used on the spruce tops to activate a super-responsive, played-in sound. Aesthetic upgrades include a rich, hand-rubbed “Brown Sugar” stain on the back and sides, a new fretboard inlay that carries over to include an inlaid ebony backstrap, ebony and*grained*ivoroid trim, and a striped ebony pickguard. A Venetian cutaway and Taylor’s Expression System® 2 pickup add playing range and performance versatility. Exclusive First Edition features include Adirondack spruce braces that boost the tonal output, a First Edition guitar label, and a commemorative First Edition nameplate on the deluxe hardshell case.

For those unfamiliar with the 600 series, they're generally spruce over maple back/sides. Per Teja's discussion in the vid, this FE is topped with torrified spruce (the roasting process referenced by the seller) over maple, with adirondack bracing. Hmmmm, good specs, to be sure.

Thumbs up

Thanks for that comment Chris. Can't believe I forgot to list the woods. I've edited the original listing to include that.

Thanks Paul. You seem like a guy that would know a wonderful axe as I've seen you put up a few drool worthy guitars here.

Here's my deux centimes...this guitar has sound and play-ability for days! Far from being a "smaller" version of the great guitars in the re-voiced 600 series, it is miles ahead of the others IMHO. You can play anything on this, including jazz chord melody. (except maybe bluegrass...it would more like "azuregrass"). Bill, it must be hard for you to let this go...but I see you've got a SCGC 00 Skye also. Good luck with the sale!

Never been a fan of small-bodied guitars, especially 12-fretters. It was a stupid prejudice on my part (I own a taylor GS and a baritone guitar) and these new Taylor GCs have helped me see that. They are terrific and sound a lot bigger than you would expect. Lutz and torrefied spruce tops make them even more attractive. But #OutofGuitarMoneyNow
