Default A few Questions re Zoom H5 or H6?

Please forgive the newbie questions. I'm new to all-things recording, inc. gear. Looking for a portable recorder to record our acoustic bluegrass jam sessions, lay down rhythm backing tracks for practice, etc, and the capability of accepting external mics if/when needed.

I'm pretty sure the H5 suits my needs, and I can certainly save a few bucks over the price of the H6.

What I can't seem to gather from the online specs is:

-- Do either of these units allow for (simple) overdubbing?
-- Will they link to Garage Band?

Any advice/comments are greatly appreciated.

I use an H5. Whilst I have not made use of the feature it does allow overdubbing of a track - saved as a separate file. I don't use GarageBand but it can record directly for later transfer to edit in a DAW or operate as an audio interface for Desktop or IPad.

Manual for the H5 is here https://www.zoom-na.com/sites/defaul...dfs/E_H5_0.pdf

I'm very happy with my H5.

Yes, you can you the H5 to record directly to garageband. Put the H5 into audio interface mode and to can use the mic to record directly into garageband.

I use the H5 to record to garage band. You effectively get 3 channels into gb. I believe with the H6 you'd get 2 more for a total of 5. The XY mics come across as one channel in my setup.
