Taylor necks
Hey all,
I was wondering about the differences in necks on Taylor guitars. I played a 314ce which felt perfect in my hand then picked up a 410ce that felt a little different. I was under the impression that these should be the same necks. Was it just my imagination or not? |

The necks on the 314ce and 410ce are identical (1 3/4" width at the nut), and Taylor's manufacturing process makes necks extremely consistently from guitar to guitar.
It's possible (likely, in fact) that the guitars were not both set up correctly (or the same), meaning the neck angles were different. This would make it feel like they were different necks (or at the very least much different action).

I also have a x10 and x14 (Ok, I have to say it, they are an 810 ce L10 and a summer special which is really a 614 ce). The 614 feels almost short scale and just easier to grip compared to the 810-- but it isn't (I don't think)-- I concluded that the body styles just makes it seem different.

They probably felt different because x10 series are set up with medium strings while x14 series are set up with light strings.
