Default Ovation classical 1763

I noticed this guitar on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171524423334

Wondered if any of you have owned or do own this model.

How is the sound not plugged in? And what do you think about the asking price?

I've owned one, and it was a nice guitar. The acoustic sound was pleasing without being jaw-dropping. But that seems like a fair price to me. What I would want to know, however, is whether this guitar had the full 2" nut width or 1 7/8". At some point, Ovation changed the specs, and if I were to buy a used one, I'd want to know exactly what I was getting.

I've owned a couple of these. They are pretty nice guitars if you don't mind the "slipping off the lap" problem. Good necks and action, reasonability good electronics and sound pretty good both plugged and plugged. However, seems a bit pricey to me. I would think $350-$400 would be a reasonable price for a good 1763 model. Having said that, like all guitars...it is worth what someone is willing to pay. Look closely for cracks on the lower bout and check out the latches on the hardshell case. Those problems seem to crop up pretty often on these.

Default Ovation

Thanks for the input. I have looked at some of the Ovation classical 1763, but none were in such good condition as the one on ebay. Wish I had the funds!

Chris's comment about "slipping off the lap" is dead on. the placement of the strap button by the bass side of the neck, due to the cutaway make the guitar want to roll flat even when playing with a strap. I would look at a model without the cutaway.
