Question Taylor 510CE

Anybody own one of these?
I played one today and thought it was pretty nice. Is $1700 a good price for a new one?

Hi Dangerine49 and welcome to the TGF!!

One of the 2 rules is that pricing is discussed off the board. I am sure someone here knows what a good price for that model is and they will probably send you an email.

Don't be surprised if the moderators XXXX out the price in your post. But don't take it personally -- it has happened to all of us at least once!

Is the 510CE you played one of the new revoiced dreadnoughts (made after 9/26/02) or one of the (also revoiced) Fall-LTDs with the snowflake inlays and the V-neck??

510's (like all Taylors) are wonderful guitars! But you should be aware that Taylor has "revoiced" their dreadnought line (510 + up) and that you may be looking at one of the older models or one of the newer ones. You owe it to yourself to check out both versions to see what grabs you before buying.

I thought the 510 LTD was drasticly different then the non-LTD version.

One of the most changed guitars at TS (unless I'm totally mistaken and it wasn't a 510, but I tought it was ).

I've got a 510 Englemann no c with a Baggs Dual Source and I love it !! I got it from Ryan. Man that guitar resonates clear as a bell, good lows and outstanding hi's. Balanced thru and thru. I want a 514 Cedar now.

510c owner here, very nice guitar. Clear and punchy as a strummer/flatpicker and balanced and articulate for fingerstyle.

Thanks for the welcome and replies folks. Sorry about breaking pricing discussion protocol.

I don't think it's a revoiced one, but not sure. I plan to go back soon, and probably take the Taylor plunge. I'll let you know.

I recently started playing with another guitarist who has a Taylor 314MCE - all mahogany. Is this a special order model? I didn't see it in the model info I've found so far.

Actually, I found out about the 314MCE model this afternoon. It's a 25th Anniversary (1999) special model, that my new bandmate recently bought.
