I told another buddy on the AGF that I'm spoiled forever from mass-produced guitars....

Folks, if I someday offer this one here in a moment of madness, please come to Ohio and kick my b**t!

Based on that label this guitar will be worth millions someday, like an upside down airmail stamp. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverted_Jenny

Fran, you are the guy who originally turned my on to Tony Yamamoto. I saw a post you made on the old APM forum and emailed you. You are the one who told me that his guitars sound like what you hear in your head when you think of guitars.

Thanks again,
Steve

Steve, I'm glad I was able to hep the two of you connect. I'm sorry to hear that the OMY isn't working with your shoulder these days. Yours is one gorgeous instrument.

My wife calls Tsuneyuki "the bad man" because he brought a Carpathian & Braz OMY to my house after I had sworn off buying guitars ... and I bought it. But honestly, I had no choice.

Picked the OMY up from my luthier-tech today - still VERY curious about the clover inlays and the 2005 stamp on the 12th fret!

Talk about a light touch needed - WOW! This OMY is much more subtle than I am - I feel like it's school time again....and IT is the teacher.

Steve,
That's one cool guitar. Sequoia. I don't think I have ever seen a top out of sequoia. I'm a California boy so I can almost see them from here, they are so tall. Does it sound like redwood?

Sorry to hear about the shoulders. There are some really nice 00 out there, at least.

As I have aged, my shoulders are protesting anything larger than a 00, and that is with a Manzer wedge. I have sold off all my larger guitars, but, have held on to this one. However, I am a believer that great guitars should not sit in closets, so, I am thinking of letting this one go as well.

That's it. You're on our watch. No selling that one!
First sign of selling and your getting you head examined.

Jim,
It sounds like good redwood in the lower registers, but, it is in the highs that it shines. It has a true bell like quality, kind of like good Spruce, but, sweeter.

Really nice guitars.

If Tony sold them for $8K, people would be wanting them a whole lot more.

Sad but true.

I sure would like to hear that some day.
Wonder why it's not more popular. Probably just less logging. Redwood is used for decks, fences, and general building and maybe just more available. Not sure that sequoia has a lot of uses.

Giant Sequoia's are a protected species, thus, with near 100% growing in protected areas which makes guitar tops from Giant Sequoias exceedingly rare.
