Jon, Clothes that fit properly will always look better - anything else is just called 'Fashion'

There are two kinds of clothes:
The kind that fit, and the kind you fit into.

That was said to me years ago and I have never forgotten it.

Half-break, no cuff for me. Flat front (no pleats!) while we're at it.

Although opinions will vary over the particulars and perceptions vary with cultures, I place a high value on the way people dress, and I really appreciate seeing people of all ages dress well. That tells me a lot about someone's personality. People will always find exceptions, but the general rule holds true.

I haven't had pants hemmed since I was a kid.

I'll be 43 in November.

I don't really care whether guys wear their pants "high water" length or walk on the excess...

As long as they're not wearing them halfway down their rear with 6 inches of their underwear showing...

Seriously...

I'm from the South. We wear britches. As in "Boy, you better go home and get some azz in your britches before you mess with me"

Same for me...with the exception of jeans. I rarely wear jeans but a couple of brands fit me perfectly, no adjustments necessary.

Its almost not necessary anyway. I buy some from L,.L. Bean and they offer inseams in 1/4" or 1/2" increments.

ZZ Top.....Sharp Dressed Man!

Got rid of my business attire years ago. But, last month got an invite to a close friend's wedding, which was semi formal. I could not believe I was back looking at suits, ties, shirts and shoes. Oh my. I still fit perfectly into the new slim fit suits, and was able to find a jacket. That "I borrowed my little brothers suit look" is not for me. The alteration lady explained the new fit and proper length plain cuff, plain front. My wife said I looked great and was going to keep her eye on me at the wedding. Now I'm ready for a wedding or funeral, maybe even wear it from time to time on Sunday which will probably shock Father Martin.

This thread makes me smile. Herein the UK "pants" are what you wear under your trousers, and trousers have (or can have "turn-ups" but never "cuffs" which are the end of sleeves on shirts and jackets.

Heheh, so the image conjured up by "cuffs on pants" is ....... well it makes me smile.
