Hey everyone , thanks for all the input!
I'll give it a whirl tonight, and have to say that the "put it on the other way" idea sounds like a winner and i'm a little embarrassed that i couldn't think to try that on my own. if reversing doesn't do the trick then I'll look at the g7 and planet capos suggested. i know i don't like kyser capo at all; they always whack out the tuning, more so that the shubb does.

They're pricey, but the Shubb Fine Tune is much less obtrusive than the Deluxe, can be moved and adjusted with one hand, and often (though not always) can fit behind the nut when not in use. I think they run about $75, and you might have to still buy them direct from the Shubb website.

Another vote for the Planet Waves NS . Really low profile. And cheap!

I use a Kyser / Paige capo on my J45 and a Shubb on the Martin . I do use the capo a lot fitted on frets 5 or 6 for some songs ( Passenger ) for these I use the Kyser fitted from above ( no problems ) however on the Martin I use the Shubb ( due to the large wide V neck mainly frets 2 and 3 4 at the max due to a low fingerstyle action

Shubb Fine Tune capo. It's a new product. It remains in the neck when not in use. Perfect!

I don't know. A CAPO is a CAPO. You're just going to have to get used to it.
