I hope you realise that Steve is winding me up, but since he said that, I do think this is rather good.

Oh , and I 've always liked Steve's playing and his choice of tunes. My grandfather was a Methodist lay preacher. Perhaps that has something to do with it.

So many adjectives are fitting here; rich, clear, sweet, powerful, lush, full...the guitar sounds beautiful!!

Well yes, that was a great sound. What a voice, but I think I could have learned the banjo part in about 1 minute haha. The chording on the accordion maybe three haha.

I was just telling Steve a little story the other day about my Uncle who use to sit down in the kitchen at our farm when we came in for breakfast or lunch and he was in the mood. He use to play accordion a lot (squeeze box he called it) and the few times I heard him play he was amazing. By the time I was older his fingers started to go from carpal tunnel and he could not finger it anymore, but he would play old time dance music and the bass lines he got out of that thing were amazing. A natural self taught musician from times past. When he could not do the accordion anymore, he played the mouth organ which is what I remember the most. And ****, he played that thing just like he played the accordion, same songs, same bass lines. He would play the bass lines out of the left side of his mouth and the melody would ring out from the right side....never knew how he could do it and never heard anyone do it quite the same since. I tried to sneak recording a few times (long before cell phones) and as soon as he saw the tape recorder he would stop playing....miss that a lot.

The sound clips sound AMAZING!!!
I won't bother trying to find the right words to describe it.
When do you get to hold the guitar?

Thank you very much for listening and your great comments. I think this one is really really good.

Because of some traveling commitments on my end, Steve is going to send it out May 1st I believe so I should have it a couple of days after that!

I really appreciate your generous comments about those sound clips. It's always catch as catch can at recording time. My sister-in-law's favorite saying comes to mind, "It is what it is". But hopefully you get an idea of the magic of Lutz spruce over rosewood. It is a fine combination, and we're pleased Tom went with this.
Not long now, amigo!

Steve

Dave, glad you chimed in again. Are you properly "wound"?
Thanks for the kind words, and the link to that performance. The backdrop for their performance is a bit of irony, no? That glorious organ sitting silent behind them, while they do a haunting rendition with the far simpler instruments in their hands.

By the way, everyone should see Dave's instruments. Some of the finest work done anywhere.

Steve

Tom, Steve & Ryan...

I absolutely love this guitar...the way that the individual elements come together as one visually-cohesive unit.

If you were to ask me, " Hey, Joel...choose three of these elements that speak to you most clearly."

Thanks for asking, by the way...😋

I would choose:
1) the amazingly lush silking that is seen in that Lutz soundboard.
2) the way the neck laminations mimic the back and the binding/purfling
3) the design element/inlay of the fingerboard, at the soundhole

Thanks Joel, I appreciate you taking the time to comment...you picked out three good ones for sure....Since it is mine, I would have a hard time sticking to three, but I can't argue with any of your choices!!!! That top really is amazing looking. I love the neck lams as well, I think the maple border really sets it off, and off course the flourish at the end of the fret board is just super unique, one off.

Have a great day!
