Fascinated here by the intersection of your x-bracing. I wonder if you might comment on what, if any, influence on sound you have found using this.

Hey, thanks for looking at my build thread! I rely on a substantial bridge plate and a well reinforced sound hole to aid in the stiffness at the X intersection. I then scoop my bass side X brace at the intersection, this allows the lower legs if the X brace to move more freely and thus move more air. I've been doing this for about 5 years now and have been very pleased with the results. This model is very small, around 14" across the lower bout, but has a very large voice. I've accomplished this through a number of design elements, the aforementioned X intersection being one of them.

Are those both one piece backs? I know the lighter one is not, so let me just ask, no center reinforcement strip?

They're hollow core backs, made from 4 pieces of wood, grain running in alternating directions and a middle layer of nomex. No braces! This is a back design I got from a friend. I've been using it for a little over a year and finding great results. The alternating grain directions between layers allows me to very accurately and evenly distribute the stiffness over the entire back making for a very active back. Thanks for taking a look!

Thanks! I'll try to put some video up when they're done so you can get a sense of what the backs add to the guitars.
