Default RainSong has a new website!

Sure would be interesting to play the Shorty and both Smokeys side by side. Not sure I'm sold on the completely blacked out look but the 12 fret WS body is intriguing.

For the "smokeys" with those all black strings, will the tone be darker ? (there is no rim shot emoji)

Just got the pricing for the new Smokey.

SMH Smokey hybrid, Stagepro Element $1,499
SMHX Smokey hybrid, Stagepro Anthem $1,799
SMC Smokey all-carbon, Stagepro Element $1,999
SMCX Smokey all-carbon, Stagepro Anthem $2,299

So it looks like that with the Baggs the Smokey Hybrid is $100 less expensive than the discontinued Studio WS, and $250 less than a WS1000NS. You gotta love it when a manufacturer listens.

Those are truly nice prices Ted. The SMH new is less than what I paid for my used Shorty!

That looks nice - I like the aesthetic. Are they Fine Texture only?

I think that was the idea, but my guess folks will be drawn to the look as well.

It's not FT JR, it's a hand sanded and waxed finish, very smooth. Not everyone cared for the rough feel of the FT, this new model addresses that and more.

Must think about this. I really like the look, but my wife insists on shark inlays.

I also love the sharks, but with the Smokey, less is definitely more.

The shark inlays are pretty cool looking, but it's really nice to see a cf guitar that I could potentially afford after 1-2 years of saving; so if that means a bit less bling, so be it!

My Shorty does not have the sharks. I appreciate the paired down looks though because my Breedlove is pretty tricked out. Nice to have something different.

Smokey might appeal to the headbangers ready to do the sensitive rock ballad?
