Could you do something in koa or ebony to fit on a Taylor GS Mini?

Unfortunately I don't know what tuners are used on the Taylor GS Mini. If anyone knows the details I'll see if I can fit them. I didn't see the tuners spec'd on the Taylor site.

Just installed the Ebony buttons I ordered for my Myrtle/EuroSpruce SJ. They look wonderful! Even the wife - who typically doesn't care much - commented on the great look!

Thanks Bill

I have had success using Planet Waves and Grover replacement buttons on various Taylors, so I assume they aren't extremely unique in that respect. I am not sure how or what to measure to find a certain answer, but I can say they have swapped with a lot of things I've tried on the market. I just sold my Lowden so I don't have Gotoh 510s on anthing to cross check ;(

I assumed that Taylor had their tuners made by one of the main companies and that anything compatible with that companies products would fit, but to date I've been unable to find a definitive answer. Of course the easy solution is to fit a set of Gotoh 510s!

Further to this, I took a button off my GS Mini and did some measuring with a digital calliper. With the button off we have a shaft 7.5mm long, with a diameter of 4mm, with 2 opposing flats that measure 3.5mm between them. The button itself is 10mm between the ends of the central hole which takes a screw 14mm long with a thread diameter of 2.45mm.

Thanks for those measurements. They help confirm my measurements of a "Taylor" branded tuner I have here in the shop. The Gotoh shaft is slightly smaller (3.9mm) and the flat is a bit deeper (3.15mm between them) and tapered a bit from the end to the body.

My limited experience is that the shaft is consistent on the different models of Gotoh, but the screw heads and lengths may be different.

I also have a couple Grover tuners here (a full size and a mini). The shaft is 3.9mm (same as Gotoh) but the flats are not as deep (3.5mm like the "Taylor" tuner).

I'm keeping these variations in mind as I update my tooling, but for now my primary focus is the Gotoh's for my own instruments.
