cutting the length of a UST
I'm thinking about a project, and find a need for a shorter than normal UST. I was wondering if anyone has attempted to cut one shorter in length, ( not height, but length. just want to make that clear!) and what the outcome was?

Underground Storage Tank? Unresolved Sexual Tension? Uniform State Test? University of St Thomas? Northeast Florida Regional Airport? Universal Standard Time?
Google came up with all these. None seem to have anything to do with acoustic guitars. |

I think acoustic guitars have a lot to do with unresolved sexual tension. :-)
Be that as it may, in this case UST means under saddle transducer, like an LR Baggs Element pick up. |

Duh, I should have been able to figure that out.
If it's a continuous strip (not segmented for individual strings), you should be able to cut it to any length you need. IIRC, my guitar guy did just that when installing my UST some years back. |

Interesting question.
I'd never have considered cutting an UST. It has me wondering just how they were made to permit this. Can anyone post an appropriate link. Most of my searches refer to the device, but not the design.

For coax USTs, the excess is inside the guitar. For a Fishman Matrix, which is fairly unforgiving if its shield is damaged, I would not attempt to shorten it.
