Wren Concert Cutaway Coco/Euro Spruce
Hi Everyone!
I thought I'd bore you with a few shots of this left handed Concert cutaway as it goes together. My customer chose this extremely dark set of Cocobolo with a hint of sapwood for the back and sides ... and a very nice German Moon spruce top with some random bearclaw figure. This should be fun!

David, This looks like it will be a very nice guitar. I haven't seen Coco quite that dark before, and should make a gorgeous instrument!
Will be anxious to see how this one develops! Thanks for taking us along for the ride with you!

I sometimes think the inside of a guitar can be as aesthetically pleasing as the outside and it seems a shame to box it all in. This is such a guitar carcass with the contrast of white and seductively dark chocolate appearance that makes my mouth water.
Nice to see the small window on the top shoulder so you can peer in and admire the interior whilst playing - I always wondered what that was for |

Hey Robert ... yep, those Venetian cutaways with their compound contours sometimes demand a bit more of a flexible lining alright!

Thanks Mike ... I don't think I've ever used Cocobolo with this much dark resin before ... should be nice!

Hey Fred ... that little window also helps with extraction of picks that have found their way to the interior of the box (HA!).

Love it, David. It's going to be another winner.
Looking at that set of Coco gave me a pleasant flashback to the Art Overholzer book. Did you read that interesting work? He would soak his rosewood in vats of Acetone to remove all the resins before building. (!) I can only imagine the amount of oils coming off that set of yours! Steve |
