I've cycled since I was a teenager, so 45+ years now.

Here's my Carlton Clubman, in 1977 at Lands End, after a pedal down from Durham staying in Youth Hostels, still have the frame in the garage . . .

Then I bought a decrepit hand painted 531 frame in the 90s and had it renovated, 8sp Campag, still have it and ride it now and again . . .

Got into mountain biking in the 90s and bought a Kona HeiHei ti frame, it's had a couple of rebuilds, still on 8sp Shimano with Suntour XC Pro thumbies and Pace RC31 carbon forks, ditched the sus years ago, it's got road tyres on in the pic as we went down to France to ride up Alpe d'Huez a while ago . . .

Here's the Kona in it's usual guise . . .

My ex winter/wet bike now living on a turbo trainer, an old steel Bianchi with 8sp Campag Ergos and 7sp Shimano gearing . . .

Current winter/wet bike, Felt, alloy with carbon fork 9sp Shimano Sora . . .

Good bike, Rose Pro SL3000, triple butted alloy, carbon fork Shimano Ultegra 6800 11sp, Hope bits, Campag Zonda wheels, 7.5kg of lovliness . . .

What a small world we live in, you'l be telling me you've ridden with Randy Allsopp next. This is my Carlton from 1977

I did Nottingham to Boston to Skegness and back in a day on this in my teenage years - would need the car to do it today. This bike was a sort of an apology from my mother, I had previously managed to buy a Mercian frame and all the right bits for £1.50. It was 531 tubing but the frame had broken below the seat. I put it to one side to get repaired and, noticing the break, my mother threw it out.

Not sure I'm doing this correctly. Supposed to be a photo of my Felt road bike.

Very true but if you can tour on a Brooks saddle you've at least got some serious mojo in my book!

Thank you for the photo help, Kevwind. Cycling is tricky.

I have two road bikes, a ten-year-old Litespeed titanium and a more recent Wabi single speed made with Reynolds steel tubing. The new carbon fiber frames are great, but I don't feel the urge to change.

Felt makes nice bikes. I love the colors on that one too.

My wife and I have pretty much same bike with one made of plastic and the other recycled beer cans. I've ridden the beer can and steel version of another bike we have. Last year I more than doubled the amount of time I worked on my bike engine. If the bike has good geometry, wheels, brakes and rubber more and more I think the bike engine is where it's at.

The problem with my bike engine theory is there's no fast solution to improve your bike engine like there is the bike.

Ride on but everyone keep showing me your bikes.

2014 Trek Fuel EX-7 29'er. I converted it from 3x10 to Shimano XT M8000 1x11. Pic is from Sherman Branch Trail in Charlotte NC.

Looks like you're into some serious racing. Tri or Road TT? Looks like the latter...

My 25 year old Bianchi Ibex. It's logged thousands upon thousands of miles including at least a couple thousand in Japan. I've tried to justify a new bike time and again, but I love this old frame!

I swapped out my Surly Troll (earlier in the thread) from an XT 3x9 to the M8000 1x11 and couldn't be happier. It's worked flawlessly so far. Hope you're enjoying yours. Nice ride!

1x and 11 speed are pretty sweet. I have poor man's with Deore 10 speed on a bike and we (wife, me) have 3 bikes with SRAM 11 speed.

With few exceptions friends should not let friends buy front derailleur in 2017.

This thread and following my wife have me wanting a new ride even more. It's a bummer that some bikes I like have 2x Shimano 11 speed.

The closest thing to a Trek Remedy 29 is the current Fuel EX. I'm leaning toward the Plus wheel version but swapping those wheels for 29 at the start. My unfortunate luck will probably mean the nice subdued black and grey models will be changed by the time we pull the trigger.

There are lots of great bikes out there but another round of trying stuff still has me in love with their exclusive Penske shock.
