Definitely beautiful looking country. Looks like it would be right up my alley, however I've not ridden for a few years, so may need to do a bit before attempting anything like this.

Okay, no exotic place. It was just the surprisingly good perfect weather "Ales & Trails" ride from my neighborhood brewery.

The extra cool thing was legitimately leading the A group. Every time the younger guys were a little too much at my wheel a tech or downhill section kept me ahead. No one took the lead when I offered it saying they'd only be in my way on the tech and downhill stuff.

More cool: Our kids lesson program was going. It was sweet to have more girls than ever. What most probably see as a crazy sport is now all ages and women too. What used to be a few of us is a bunch. It all ends at our neighborhood brewery beer garden with live music where Chicago Sandy's performed.

It's nice to wake up with the best kind of hurt and getting that done before a few days of rain.

The Apple Watch and phone say I've ridden bike for the last 81 days and met, doubled, tripled and a few times 4x the daily goals. Even with rain I supposed I better do one errand on a bike today and aim for 100.

I rode up in the Mink Creek area today with a friend. We crushed a 1500' climb, rode a ridiculously sketchy rock garden (we apparently missed an out around it - oops), and finished in just under 2 hours total. Felt absolutely unstoppable today.

Also set a new personal record for bunny hop height today. Came around a fast downhill corner, and spotted the back half of a snake across the trail less than 10 feet ahead. Yelled "SNAKE!" to warn my friend behind me, and yanked the bike skyward with a vengeance. Don't think it was a diamondback, but I wasn't going to stick around to find out.

I'd like to visit those. They've been in our (my road trip posse) targets a few times but weather sent us elsewhere.

We set vacation weeks when we can road trip w bikes and go to the spot where the weather forecast is best. That's been a lot of great times.

That's you? I bought a copy of that when I lived there, quite a few years ago! I enjoyed several of the trails in the southeast part of the state I found in there.

Cool. Believe me, it was a much different world for mountain bikers when I wrote that book in the late 1990s. Doesn't seem that long ago, but you wouldn't believe the blank looks I encountered when asking park personnel about riding a bicycle on dirt roads and trails....

Great pics and that is too cool RP!

Top of Meadow Mountain right before the Whisky Creek descent. Minturn, CO. Photo cred to my riding buddy.

Did the Flume Trail again this weekend, this time from Spooner. Total of about 23 miles with Tyrollean downhill at the end. Spectacular as always. Hamming it up above Sand Harbor, Nevada.

I might have a new favorite destination. Grand Targhee is 90 minutes from my house (quite reasonable, especially since the traffic is not bad) and there's no charge if you don't need a lift ticket or rental.

Trails are nicely maintained, very well marked, and very fun. I took my usual partner in crime and a new fairly new rider up there yesterday for a couple of rides. We rode about 6 miles of prime single track through rolling hills before lunch, grabbed some food, then set out up the hill to try some of the non-lift serviced downhill runs - about another 6 miles worth.
