Thanks, Tom! Very informative and the SA330X is definitely an improvement over the old SoloAmp/SA220.

Here's a link for the bag:
http://www.fishmanstore.com/product.htm?pid=756937
I think it's the same bag that was standard on the SA220. But if I recall, that bag sold for $99. So perhaps it's a little different. Hard to tell.

$149 is Fishman's price. Street will probably be under $100.

I just ordered a custom bag from the pros at Studio Slips with a pocket for the speaker pole and another padded pocket for the Expander for not much more than Fishman is selling their bag.

Would anyone be skilled enough to know how to battery power an SA330X? I'm a busker and it may be my next upgrade if it can happen!

That expansion unit looks pretty useful to me. Have you fed it with a stand alone mixer yet?

No but I'm sure it would work just fine. The Expander is really cool though!

Here you go: http://www.studioslips.com/

Their stuff is great!

I had them add a pocket for the speaker pole and a padded pocket for the Expander. Now they have that design on file if you need it.

I think you mentioned the ability to connect a subwoofer. Is that a port that the 220 doesn't have? Does Fishman have a sub designed for this? And do you think a sub is needed for a vocal and guitar gig?

Only the SA330X has the subwoofer connection. Fishman does make a specific sub for this unit. You're going to get different opinions on whether it's needed or not. My opinion is that a vocal/guitar gig doesn't require a sub because those frequencies generally aren't produced on that type of gig. I'd like to hear some other opinions on that from others though.

I play in a duo. I switch between playing acoustic guitar with my partner who is also on acoustic, or I play bass. Currently using a Bose L1 Compact. For small bars, and some resorts where we performing in dining area's where guests need to easily talk over the volume of the music, it works amazingly well. I plug directly into the 1/4" input on the Bose L1 Compact with my Bass. Its pretty good. Not the last word in tone, but easier leaving my Markbass CMD121P combo at home.

So I am now wondering how the SA330x will compare (with expander) and Fishman Sub versus the Bose L1 Compact. (Note: We use a small Behringer Xair for vocals and acoustic guitars with the Bose. That gives us effects and EQ'ing that is quite nice. So our current rig might be hard to beat.

Has anyone used the Fishman SA330X w/Sub and Expander in a small group scenario and/or compared to the Bose L1 Compact?
