Bass and treble sets mismatched?
Anyone here experience an awkward transition from the 3 to 4 strings when trying a new treble set? I've never met a bass set that I haven't liked, and the sale of treble sets alone has me wondering if glaring mismathes are uncommon. Are all manufacturers' bass sets good pairings with any other manufacturers' treble sets?

The simple answer is NO.
Mixing strings are a way of getting the best out of your particular guitar. Not all manufacturers strings "play well with others". My preference is to change them all when trying out new basses or trebles. The older strings tend to enhance any mismatch on my guitars Dave

I find basses I like. Or sometimes I find basses that hold up best under the rigors of live performance. I find trebles I like. Many times not from the same pack. Separate basses are easier to understand since I tend to go through them much faster. But there have been times I only wanted to change trebles.
