Gorgeous. I love quilted sapele, and this is really a top-notch set.

As if you are not busy enough Steve you have to go and choose the busiest looking bits of wood you can find as well. Love your work and that top that reminds me of my adorable grandmother, God rest her soul.

Thanks Harmonist. Yes, sigh, I wish I had several more of these...

Jim, glad to bring a fond memory back to mind. And thanks for the kind word!

Hey stringjunky, all you need is a drill, some tubing, wire and sheet silver, a jeweler's saw, some metric bits, files and glues, and *bam*...you can have your own precious inlay. Envy no more!

I like everything about it, the silver work is the cherry. You didn't mention the thousands of hours learning which is not an insignificant obstacle.

Yes, there is that. But it won't take you 1,000's of hours, I'm sure.
Thanks again, by the way!

Ok, getting close. Failed to get a shot of gluing the bridge, but you've all see that step plenty of times.
So we'll fast forward to fitting the bridge pins:

Ryan will be pleasantly surprised I remembered the top shield.
That stayed in place until the holes were ramped for the string paths.
Then pins were seated, thus:

And zooming out a bit:

So what remains is stringing it up, and doing the set up.
We are looking forward to hearing her voice!

Thanks,

Steve

Amazing work!
I love the details of the rosette, and the purflings.
May I ask why you leave the last fret slot undone?

Steve,

The bearclaw theme for the top is working very well with the quilt of the back. Very nice thinking and execution.

Kudos

Thanks for the kind remarks everyone, they are really appreciated!
Quentinjazz, yes: we leave out the last fret until this point to aid in location.
Look closely, and you'll see two small holes in the fret slot. Pins fit in those holes and two corresponding holes in the top. As we do not use a tendon in our heels, this simple method keeps the neck on centerline when installing the neck.
Then, we come back and install that last fret right before set up.
I hope that makes sense!
Thanks again,

Steve
