Default New Pickup from Go Acoustic

I haven't tried it. On another forum a friend posted a link to their website.

https://www.goacousticaudio.com/prod...e-mount-system

And Paul McGill, the owner, has entered into chatting with people answering their questions and linking to video examples and testimony. Apparently, Aaron reviewed and earlier edition of the pickup system. But this is New and Improved.

Here's a video from a Pro who had it installed in his guitar.

It looks like they made all of the changes that I suggested. That’s nice!

I’m in over my head with pickups, preamps, and IRs. So I won’t pop soon for anything additional. Plus at $420, it’s a little pricey. I’ll be happy for one of you guys to do the trial first for me.

That sounds great. Doesn’t hurt that he can pick like Chet!

I like the concept, but if I am looking at the correct pickup, it seems to be a fairly invasive installation.

It's a UST with two leads drilled thru the bridgeplate, instead of one. It has an internal battery. Seems fairly normal.

The UST can be purchased in typical saddle slot widths, so the bridge shouldn't need to be routed.

All that being said, I notice in the video I posted that when the player bumps up the volume at the end, there's a little piezo harshness that sneaks in. Much less than your usual quackie UST. But it's there.

Not about to replace what i currently have in all my guitars (LR Baggs anthem SL), but the vid does sound nice, looking forward to more audio/video samples.

It doesn't look as though the two leads match up with where a normal UST wire would be drilled. That means that if you have had a UST in your guitar at some point, you will now have three holes in the saddle slot/bridge. Fairly invasive in my opinion.

To be fair any system recorded with an iPhone in a hotel room with the guitar three feet away will sound nice.

That was my thinking as well. It's kind of like those demo videos where someone will test a pickup by playing the guitar in front of the mic/phone with the amp behind them. This is obviously going to pick up a ton of the unplugged tone.

I do like the concept of this pickup though. Anything that can get close to the Takamine system is a win for me. I wonder though, is the saddle attached? I am assuming so which means you are stuck to using that saddle.

It sounds like a steel strung flatop guitar with a ust plugged into a guitar amp - with added effects and e/q. Great playing, and the p/u probably achieves the timbre and practicality being aimed at.

But I don't think that the word "acoustic" should appear in any sentence describing what's going on. Except perhaps for a title saying "How to electrify your acoustic guitar".
