Yes, but...
... it gets in the way of picking and strumming.

Too easy to accidentally send picks flying placed in that position. Just jam a spare pick, old school, in the strings behind the nut.

Really? How far up the soundhole do you strum?

Interesting idea... I agree that I feel like I would bump it. I use one of these on most of my guitars:

Yep.
There's a huge range of sounds (harmonic content) depending on where you pick or strum - and of course how you pick or strum. I tend to stay between bridge and 12th fret, or thereabouts.

I couldn't use the OP's holder.
I'd knock picks off it.
On some songs my arm/hand is all over the guitar.

Looks like a diving board for picks straight into the sound-hole.

I keep a spare pick in my pocket. I don't have to carry a guitar into a shop to make sure I have my preferred pick to try out instruments.

There's a solution for just about anything that's not a problem.

On the plus side, there's many snacks that could be mounted with this thing.

Considering this is the only pick I've ever used

I keep mine with me all the time and that holder would inhibit my mediocre playing ability.
