This is pretty much me except for I've never used an arm rest. Have considered one for my GS mini because my arm chokes the top.

What in the hell is an armrest for a guitar? A weird stand in the shape of an arm?

Somebody they said they were for girls in this thread. I'm a girl and have never heard of an armrest for a guitar. Is this equivalent to a drummer wearing gloves?

No. It's a different thing. We reserve the gloves for the Banjo players.

Armrests - Haven't gotten that lazy or tired from playing yet, plus I play with a clean arm.

Capos - It's a little clamp thingy that raises the pitch of the guitar like, y'know, when George used one at the 7th when he wrote Here Comes The Sun?

Elixir strings - Something about people with tin ears comes to mind. Sound bad going on and degrade from there. What's not to lack?

Expensive picks - Playing properly (with fingers) will remedy that.

Ha. Good thread.

Arm rest: look honestly I haven't tried one, but I do fear if I'm too comfortable playing the pained quality in my singing voice might disappear (this would leave my voice with no redeeming qualities whatsoever)

Elixir strings: don't mind em. Don't love em.

Capo's: Of course. i use shubbs and more recently a Paige.

Picks: I don't think really expensive picks are technically worth it... but since I already spent the money I play exclusively with blue chips

Frank's Cranks. If you use cheap plastic tuning peg winders and aren't spending at least $100 on them (each), then you aren't considered "bourgeois" enough and I raise my surgically enhanced pointy nose at you whilst standing high up on my pedastal made out of excess disposable income.

I prefer a bevel to an arm rest - a comfortable guitar is easy to play longer.
Elixir strings - yep, on all my guitars.
Capo - just one, and I use it on a few songs.
Expensive picks - I like the Gravity Gold, seem to prefer picks around 1.0mm. Charmed Life (brown). Ultem picks.

I also like cutaways and "onboard electronics"... not only that, I use a vocal harmonizer. I keep a set list on an iPad Mini, clipped to the mic stand.

Biggest thing that has changed for me in the 50+ years I've been playing: carbon fiber guitars - I have 3, but my favorites are the Emeralds (an X7 and an X20) that have changed my opinions on what a guitar should do for you. I still have some nice wood guitars, but they don't see much play. Yeah, the Emeralds are that good.

All that said, no fight from me. I think folks should play what they want, on the kind of guitar they like, with the picks (or no picks) that work best for them.

Well, you say that now. And I admire you for that. But now Nerf Balls have been brought into the equation. I can't just sit around and watch that happen....

Speaking of Ovations, did you ever notice that there's no difference whatsoever between a $100 nylon string guitar and a $10,000 one? They all sound exactly alike! What's up with that? They surely are easy to play though. I couldn't afford an Ovation back in the day so I had to buy an Applause. Happily played that finger-eater for many years...I loved that guitar.

The only difference between an Applause and an Ovation is three Nerf balls stuck in the lower bout. It's funny how these threads come around. Who is the culprit?
