Default Gibson J45 Standard Used Price Range

Hi everyone.

I'm in the search for a used Gibson J45 Standard (from the 2000's-2010's) and the price for it seems to vary depending the site I look into. In Ebay they start at approximately USD 1,900. Used in Guitar Center they start approx. at USD 1,600. Same with Gbase and Reverb.

What would the real price be? Should I trust the other webpages (Guitar Center, Gbase, Reverb)?

Thanks

Guitar Center doesn't try to kill you with the average used guitar. It's when they have something they think is "vintage" that they try to soak you. I've seen new old stock standard J-45 go for $1,850 there, btw.

Welcome to the group. Go to Reverb.com and Ebay.com and type in your model information. Both will give you the average recent sales for that guitar. Anyone here will have to do the same.

Why do you prefer those years? There must be a reason.

GC is a trustworthy place. They normally have fair prices and of course a very liberal return policy. But they rarely post year on the used Guitars. So you'd have to call store on every one.

In my search a couple of years ago I played a lot of them (Gibson slope shoulder).
I ended up with 2013 that's very good and maybe even better now.
I found it at GC and got it, out the door, for $1,600.00

$1900 is too much to pay for a used standard j45. You could probably get a new one for that much.

I was on the hunt for a used Gibson J-45 a few months ago... I would say the average price for a clean, very good to excellent condition J-45 Standard model would be $1500.

As for best year? That's a tough one. Seems like there were many variations through the years... It's hard to pin-point the best ones by year alone. This is one guitar that needs to be played (if possible) or have a return policy if bought used.

Personally, I'd be looking at the TV (True Vintage) red label models or a special edition which can be had for slightly higher price.. But they seem to be more consistent and may have better sound.

My local GC had a 2015 ( I think) the other day for $1700. New condition.

There's a 1994 Gibson 100th Year Anniversary model in our local Craigslist for $1600.

I don't know that's why I was asking you. It seems that the recent J-45s are good. So I'm looking for a good used one at a low price. Then it's a balance between the shape it's in, the price and if I'm ready to pull the trigger.

I just sold a barely used 2016 J45 standard for around $1450. I bought it new for about $1900. I probably could have squeezed an extra $100 out of that, so I think you are probably looking in the $1500 range for a used in excellent condition.
