Tough question, I generally don't go for the aesthetics of most Gibson acoustics. I don't care for oversized pickguards, or ones with pictures on them. Also not a jumbo fan so their classic SJ-200 models are off the table.
However, #1 for sure is the J-45. Classic, elegant, with a great, balanced, tone. #2 would be the L-00. #3 the 1928 L-1 Blues tribute is a cool looking one. I love the 12-fret guitars but admit I have not had the chance to play this one but it has piqued my curiousity. Later Rob |

1937 Gibson L-0
No explanation needed - fingerpicking delight: Next fave would be my BK L-00 and then my 59 LG3, but there are others! (Photos of those are on Photobucket - give me 5 days to open it - the photo above is in Imgur) BluesKing777. Last edited by BluesKing777; 03-14-2017 at 07:01 PM. |

Sheryl Crow Southern Jumbo is my all time favorite modern Gibson.
A custom, no sunburst, adi top, mahogany backed, Advanced Jumbo was my second favorite. I also played a new Original Jumbo a year or two ago that was great. Matt |

I've only played two Gibsons in my life so I have to go with those:
My J15 and a Hummingbird Pro for which I have no photos... Best PJ |

Well, we have sort of overdone on the old guitar thing. We have and use more than just 3.
There are three of these that might be good choices -- the 36 AJ for sure and both the 35 Jumbo and 31 L-2 are jewels that get a lot of use. I guess the other ones that seem to very special are our 23 GB-4, and various old Mastertones and mandolins. |

In my life I've owned three Gibson guitars...a 1964 LG0 (my first guitar in 1964), a WM-45, and a Les Paul double cut. The two acoustics I loved. The LP not so much.

I've never owned one due to size, but I like a lot the Hummingbird series. Especially the Pro and the Custom (Adi top). Such a sweet tone.

I currently own 4 recent Gibsons, one or possibly two of which will go away. The ones that remain are the AJ Luthier's Choice and a limited Southern Jumbo RI that they put out a couple years ago. Neither of these would make the cut against my Collings Traditionals, Martins, Santa Cruz and Lowden if I had to radically downsize, but I seem to always be drawn to Gibsons in the store. The current black Dove is really nice and I don't have a maple guitar...

#1 Advanced Jumbo - by far my favorite. Ironically, the most un-Gibson sounding to me. Somewhere between a Gibson and a Martin. Still the only rosewood guitar that loves the taste of PB strings....kind of weird
#2 hard to choose, but the J-45 is too iconic not to put here. Most recorded guitar ever, the ultimate singer-songwriter guitar....hard to argue. #3 J-15/ J-35 are high end guitars in build quality and tone, but not the price tag. I'm a sucker for made in America with North American tone woods. Went in to buy a 15, left with a killer sounding 35.

My J-45, My DIF and on the electric side, my ES-335. I actually play the 335 more than the other two especially when I'm learning barre chords.
